Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra Music Director
Actively involved in the San Diego classical music scene since 1990, Hernan Constantino is Music Director/Conductor of Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra’s Intermediate and Advanced Orchestras. Mr. Constantino enjoys a three-pronged career: that of violinist, conductor, and educator. As a conductor, his credits include the Oregon Coast Music Festival, Interlochen Arts Camp and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a member of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, and has held posts with such respected organizations as the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, Portland Opera Orchestra, and West Coast Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Constantino offers private instruction at his Solosoli Violin Studio and is an active member of the Music Teachers Association of California.
Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra Associate Music Director
Jane Gayle Frey is a highly accomplished musician and educator with more than 30 years of experience. She has performed with nationally-recognized orchestras and served as a faculty member and professor at two San Diego universities. Currently, Ms. Frey serves as the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra Associate Music Director, instructing the Suzuki and Beginning Strings ensembles. She is a multi-level SAA registered Suzuki Violin teacher with an Early Childhood Credential in Suzuki Violin Pedagogy. An active professional musician, Ms. Frey maintains a private studio, performs as a substitute in the San Diego Symphony, and works regularly as a studio musician in the recording and motion picture industry in Southern California. Over the course of her career, Ms. Frey toured with Andrea Bocelli to promote his first album, toured with Linda Ronstadt, and performed in a benefit concert featuring James Taylor. She also served as a member of the string section with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Opera Orchestra, and the Dallas Ballet Orchestra.
Winds and Brass Instructor
An accomplished jazz performer, Frank Glasson received a Grammy nomination for “Best Jazz Instrumental Solo” for his improvised solos on the recording “Jazztet” in 2006. A native of Solana Beach, he has performed locally and abroad with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Opera, Middel Deutsche Rundfunk Orchestra of Germany, Tokyo Opera Nomori of Japan, Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, State Theater and National Chamber Orchestras of South Africa and as a soloist with the latter two. Frank is a Yamaha performing artist and can currently be seen performing with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Symphony of Orange County, La Jolla Playhouse, Broadway San Diego, and Classics 4 Kids Orchestra.
Robyn Glasson, Intermediate Strings Instructor
Robyn Glasson is a professional musician, band program administrator and music educator. Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Ms. Glasson started the violin at age 9 and viola at age 13. While completing her degree at Stellenbosch Conservatory, she played in professional orchestras in South Africa. In 1997 she moved to San Diego and played full time in the viola section of the San Diego Symphony. As a music educator Ms. Glasson has maintained a large studio and currently works as assistant band director for the Solana Beach School District. Ms. Glasson also manages the Solana Beach School District Band Program.
Festival Orchestra Concertmaster / MMYO Advisor
William Preucil has been Concertmaster of the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra since its first performance in 1989. He also serves as Artistic Advisor to the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra. Since 1995, he has been Concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra, appearing regularly with the Orchestra in concerto performances. Prior to joining the Cleveland Orchestra, he served as first violinist of the Grammy-winning Cleveland Quartet. Previously, he was Concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony.
Sonja Braaten Molloy
Director, MMYO Strings Chamber Music Workshop
Sonja Braaten Molloy joined the violin section of The Cleveland Orchestra in June of 2000 beginning with the Orchestra’s Blossom Festival season. She holds bachelor and master of music degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Linda Cerone, David Updegraff, and Cleveland Orchestra concertmaster, William Preucil.
