San Diego, pick up your instruments and play! Mainly Mozart invites you to our third annual San Diego Makes Music, a Free Community event which brings together musicians of all ages and all skill levels in Balboa Park each June to make music in a free open-air event. A specially selected group of San Diego’s amateur musicians sit alongside Mainly Mozart’s Festival Orchestra of all-stars under the baton of Maestro Michael Francis while students and amateurs of all skill levels play along from the audience. We welcome every instrument and every level of music-making! The concert is on Sunday, June 11 at 3:30pm in Balboa Park’s Spreckels Organ Pavilion.

There are three opportunities to rehearse with the orchestra:

Tuesday, June 6th           7:00-9:00pm Community Rehearsal

(all community participants) with Hernan Constantino, Mainly Mozart Youth Orchesta Music Director, at Copley Auditorium, San Diego Museum of Art, 1450 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92101-1618

Saturday, June 10             12:00-2:00pm Community Rehearsal
(all community participants) with Hernan Constantino, Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra Music Director, at Mesa College Music Department, Bldg C-100, 7250 Mesa College Drive, San Diego, CA 92111

Sunday, June 11               12:30-2:30pm Community Dress Rehearsal
(includes MM Festival Orchestra) with Michael Francis, Mainly Mozart Music Director, at Copley Auditorium, San Diego Museum of Art, 1450 El Prado, San Diego CA 92101-1618

NOTE: It is a short walk from Copley Auditorium to Spreckel’s Organ Pavilion where the concert will take place
at 3:30pm on June 12th, 2016

3:30 pm Free Concert with members of the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra & Adult Amateurs Playing Side-by-Side with Festival Orchestra

Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra; Michael Francis, conductor

We are inviting any musician (regardless of skill level) from the San Diego community to participate in this performance by playing along from the audience. The five pieces of music for the general play-along portion of the program can be downloaded from the links below. In these links, you will find three levels of difficulty for each part with the #1 part being Advanced and #3 being the easiest (Beginner). Choose whichever level suits your ability.
