SAN DIEGO, CA, November 09, 2018 — Mainly Mozart Founding Executive Director Nancy Laturno has announced the appointment of two senior staff positions. Dr. Sidney Yin is the company’s new General Manager while Gregory Parry takes on the Director of Marketing position. Both strengthen the company’s executive team with their extensive non-profit performing arts experience. Yin most recently served with the San Diego Youth Symphony and Parry, who is recently returned to San Diego, was marketing director of San Diego Symphony from 2004 to 2009.
“I am so pleased to welcome both Sidney and Gregory into the Mainly Mozart family,” said Laturno. “Mozart is entering an exciting phase in our 31-year history. We are moving ahead on some ambitious projects and having a larger executive team will allow us to focus on new initiatives and expanding Mainly Mozart’s role in the community.”
Chinese-Canadian pianist Dr. Sidney Yin brings over 20 years of experience in the performing arts sector to Mainly Mozart. He has taught at the world-renowned Juilliard School of New York where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and served as Professor of Keyboard Studies at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, where he received his Doctorate of Musical Arts. As a guest soloist, Sidney has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, New Juilliard Ensemble, and Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony and others across North America and Europe. Since moving to San Diego in 2012, Sidney has been working for San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory as the Associate Director of Conservatory Programs, overseeing music faculty, curriculum design, and artistic development of students. In 2015, he led a three-city tour and performed as a soloist with San Diego Youth Symphony at the largest performance venues in Beijing, Shanghai, and Yantai, China.
Gregory Miles Parry has an extensive career in arts management and is a trained musician with a love for many different art forms. Most recently he has been working as a consultant in Southern California for Parry Arts Consulting, a company he founded in 2009 in Paris, France after being awarded a Competencies and Talents Visa by the French government. Before moving to France, Mr. Parry was Director of Marketing and Public Relations for San Diego Symphony and was a key member of the senior management team which successfully doubled the organization’s budget and led the orchestra to being recognized as a Tier 1 organization by the League of American Symphony Orchestras. He began his career in arts administration at The Banff Centre for The Arts (Alberta, Canada) where he held the position of Assistant Director in the Theatre Arts Department, Marketing and Public Relations.
